There were Thirty-one positive recordings in just six days, all during the working day, in Torrevieja last week following controls set up by the Local Police at the access points of the Casagrande Industrial Estate, in the vicinity of the leisure areas and the macrodiscoteca Velice.
Nine of those detained were for an offense against traffic safety when the drivers tested positive for blood alcohol levels higher than 0.60 mg / l in expired air. In two of the cases the drivers were also charged with reckless driving.
The controls were carried out from 6am to 2.30 pm and also resulted in 22 other administrative sanctions with a fine, which SUMA will process.
Officers reported that eight drivers were driving without a current Vehicle Technical Inspection report (ITV) and with expired licenses. Three other drivers were also denounced for “disrespect” and disobedience to the local police.
Many other drivers were stopped from using their cars on public roads because of the very poor state of their vehicles.
