During last weeks collection which took place in the MASYMAS Supermarket the ‘San Miguel Arcángel’ Neighbourhood Association collected 1,426 kilos of foodstuffs as well as cash donation s 0f 183 euros.
The collection tables were manned by 40 local volunteers, almost half of which were teenagers, covering a shift pattern that took in all of the store’s opening hours.
This effort was part of the campaign ‘the Great Collection’, which the Food Banks staged throughout Spain last weekend.
A spokesman for the group said that he was absolutely delighted that the donations represented an increase of 37% on the collection made last year.
