It’s been a very successful week for the Quesada squads with some great wins and two draws. With just one week left to the end of the Winter season the competition has certainly been fierce as all of the teams and their competitors try to consolidate their position in the league tables.
In the South Alicante Winter League, Quesada Pearls put in a strong performance against La Marina Explorers. Some high scoring rinks contributed to a convincing win for the Pearls with a final score of 9-3 points and 100-65 shots.
Well done Pearls! Meanwhile on a morning where the wind played havoc with the woods Quesada Diamonds entertained Monte Mar Matadors. A very pleasant morning with nice friendly opposition players. Quesada Diamonds won on 3 rinks and Monte Mar Matadors won on 2 rinks.
The shots were 87-70 and the points 8-4 to the Diamonds. And the Rubies, also playing a Montemar team, managed a very close draw against the Torreadors with 6 points each with Montemar winning the shots by a small margin 68-63.
In the Southern League Quesada Swans didn’t fare so well though, losing their match against Mazarron Miners 10-2 with shots 117-51. The Swallows had a better day winning their match against Greenland Oaks 8-4 with the shots 91-84. And on a lovely sunny afternoon, the Swifts played La Manga Crusaders who had travelled to Quesada. As always a great pleasure to host the La Manga squad, and a lovely game played in high spirits.
Swifts won the match 12-0 and the shots were 133-42, which means the Swifts are chasing San Miguel hard and aiming for 2nd or 3rd place in the league to end the season next week.
In the Winter league, Quesada also had a good win this week against Montemar winning 8-4 and shots 93-62.
And finally, in the last match of the Federated 4’s season, Quesada Panthers played San Miguel Cherokees. In a tough game, the Cherokees were playing for the league leadership but the Panthers put in a fabulous performance and not only held them off for a 4-4 draw but also took the shots 57-56.
This means the Panthers have finished 3rd out of 5 teams in division 1. Considering we had a basic squad of around 15 to choose from week in week out, with many of the team playing 3 and 4 times a week, Panthers can be very proud of what they have achieved this season. Well done Panthers!
