A joint operation between the Guardia Civil and the National Police has resulted in the arrest of nine Iranian in Benidorm. The four women and five men have been apprehended for stealing from the public whilst masquerading as police officers.
The thieves targeted tourisms in a number of towns n the Costa Blanca. They approached the victims in cars which had been fitted with blue LED lights and often beat them up before running off with their valuables.
The thieves would work in an area for a few days and regularly changed the vehicle the used in order to avoid detection from the authories. In the end, however, they were arrested in two different properties in Benidorm as the result of a joint effort between the Guardia Civil and National Police.
The raid turned up large amounts of cash and valuables as well as three vehicles. At least 15 people are thought to have been victims of the crimes.
The gang will be charged for robbery with violence, money laundering, belonging to a criminal group, and holding false documents. In addition, some of the gang members will be charged with illegal entry into Spain.
