Members of the Orihuela Costa Branch of the RBL joined over a hundred residents and holidaymakers at Lo Monte Camping in Torre de la Horadada on Friday afternoon where they enjoyed a bbq organised by Ant Horadada (he must be on the run with a name like that) in the campsite where the star attraction was former member of Hot Chocolate, Greg Bannis, who currently resides in Fortuna.
Greg entertained the revellers with two sessions, each of about 40 minutes, where he had many of the crowd, including lots who were stood on the sidelines, on their feet, as they bopped to songs that he made famous during the 60’s and the 70’s whilst on the road with the popular British Soul Band.
Fortunately the rain arrived on the scene only as the partygoers were packing up so a thoroughly good afternoon was, for once, actually spared by the weather.
On Easter Sunday the branch took over YOLO’s Restaurant in Cabo Roig where over 40 members and guests were treated to a wonderful 3 course Easter lunch.
There was, of course the usual bonnet competition which, to ensure fair play, was judged by a member of the restaurant staff. But well done to all the ladies who were all rewarded with boxes of chocolates.
The Branch organises various events locally and has visits to other areas as part of a very varied social programme. You do not need an Armed Forces background to join a Branch of the Royal British Legion. It is a great chance of making new friends and enjoying a full social life in Spain. Anyone interested in finding out more is asked to email the secretary on orihuelacostarblsec@yahoo.co.uk or ring 630 280 899.
