The manager of Orihuela Cultural, Vox advisor Ramón Gabín, has resigned after his umpteenth controversy.
Gabín has been accused of workplace harassment, which has already led to the sick leave of some employees, according to the letter that one of these employees sent to the mayor of Orihuela, Pepe Vegara.
Gabín has sent his resignation in writing to the Mayor’s Office, since he is the first mayor in charge of appointing and dismissing the manager of the municipal company, in charge of managing the town’s cultural spaces and events.
The resignation comes after the letter sent by one of the employees to the mayor, and on the same day that the opposition asked to convene an extraordinary council of Orihuela Cultural to request his dismissal, after the controversy over the sale of tickets for a concert by Malú last week, an event that had not been approved by the Orihuela Cultural council.
The complaint to the mayor for this alleged workplace harassment is not new. In the writing recorded by the Orihuela Cultural worker, he refers to the fact that “the purpose of this letter is to follow up on our conversation on March 7, 2024, in which I explained the work difficulties that I have faced since August 2023, coinciding with the political changes in the company”. The accusations of harassment are also transferred to another of the senior officials of Orihuela Cultural. Both, according to this complaint to the mayor, “have spread comments about alleged complaints from other workers regarding my work performance. These complaints, however, have not been officially presented to the company, but rather appear to be based on rumours and internal gossip. It is It is worrying that the Manager has made decisions based on this information without having consulted me directly or having verified the veracity of the facts.”
Gabín, in his resignation letter, however, does not allude to any of these issues, and points out that the decision corresponds to “personal reasons”, while at the same time he takes pride in his management, since his appointment, he assures, ” I have done nothing other than work with all the professionalism, all the passion and all the honesty that this position needed”.
So far, VOX are silent in response, referring to the mayor’s communications office. Vegara, for his part, has limited himself to pointing out that he accepts the manager’s resignation, without assessing the content of the letter written by a member of the staff or the political consequences of this new controversy.
After his resignation as manager of the municipal company, Gabín’s future as an advisor is also in question, due to serious accusations regarding his management.
