The mayor of Orihuela, Pepe Vegara, stated in the plenary session last Thursday that the clearing of the site where a new school in barracks on the Coast will be located would be awarded during this coming week.
He did so in response to a question from the Cabo Roig y Lomas Neighbourhood Association, which criticised the council for failing to find a solution to the serious deficiencies, after more than seven months.
The Council put out to tender last Friday a minor contract for the cleaning, removal of belongings and management of the waste currently occupying on the plot, in which the department of Infrastructure has accumulated tons of rubble, construction and sports materials, wooden boards, signage, prefabricated beams and all types of furniture – including disused footbaths – without any type of control, since the Playas de Orihuela school, in the location for 16 years, was dismantled.
The budget is 18,136 euros, with companies able to present their offers until the 6th. The successful bidder must then carry out the work within a period of 15 days.
According to the description of the work, it involves carrying out comprehensive cleaning and waste management (classification for recovery and reusable materials, loading and transport to authorised landfill or to municipal offices if they are in use, demolition of prefabricated beams and elimination of plant remains).
The plot, where school Number 20 will be located, in provisionally prefabricated classrooms, has an area of 6,200 square meters and is located on Calle Níspero, annex to Avda Las Brisas, which connects the Parque de la N road. -332 with Villamartín and the La Zenia Boulevard shopping centre.
