Orihuela will now have a more cardio-protected municipality. The Council has awarded a contract to equip municipal buildings and public areas with up to 50 defibrillators. The winning company was Telefónica de España SL. for a budget: 214,368.00 euros (plus IVA)
The contract provides the acquisition of the devices through ‘renting’ as well as all maintenance and training. The duration of the contract is four years.
Telefónica was rated as the best by the Contracting Board from among the six companies that participated in the tender, offering a price per unit of 48.28 euros (VAT included).
The contract includes a free app for the general public and another mobile application with a panic button for workers, both options in English and Spanish. In addition, its defibrillators are equipped with non-polarized electrodes and the company is committed to managing the obtaining of the Cardio protected City certification.
The places where the equipment will be located are yet to be defined. In the specifications, it is stated that the winning company will be responsible for the installation of between 39 and 55 Desa equipment. 10 portable defibrillators with a carrying case will begiven to Local Police and Emergency units, 30 devices with a protective box or display case will be in municipal buildings and up to 15 devices will be placed in outdoor spaces, such as municipal parks.
The specifications requite that the successful bidder must carry out an initial and continuing training program as an obligation. The course in basic life support and use of defibrillators will be taught by health personnel on an annual basis and will include the registration of students in a registry, whether in initial or refresher training. At least 10 people will be trained for each defibrillator.
