The Real Madrid Foundation is to open an inclusive football school in the province of Alicante for children and young people with intellectual disabilities and functional diversity.
The former Spanish International who played almost 350 games for Real Madrid and who currently fills the post of Club director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño, the deputy mayor of Callosa de Segura, the municipality chosen for its location, Trinitario de Guadalupe Grau, and the director of Operations of Las Colinas Golf & Country Club, Javier Rodríguez, all signed the agreement that gives the green light to the development of the project, during an event held at the facilities of the Las Colinas Golf & Country Club residential tourism development.
A total of 24 children and youths between 8 and 20 years old will take part in the initiative and will be able to enjoy two one-hour training sessions a week on the artificial grass 7-a-side football field provided for the school by the Callosa de Segura City Council.
The Real Madrid Foundation will be responsible for the design, management, and development of the inclusive school. It will provide a total of three coaches, all necessary sports and teaching material, as well as the participants’ equipment.
Las Colinas Golf & Country Club will support the sustainability of the project by assuming the costs associated with the operation of the school during an agreed initial period of three years.
