Torry started their early evening match at Victorino Crespo Stadium, knowing that a win against hosts Monteforte would put them joint top of Preferente div group 4.
They needed to step up a gear or two following a dismal performance against lowly Ilicitano the previous week, for although Monteforte had yet to earn a point, Pedreño’ s men had to show more urgency if they hoped to secure the 3 points.
Midweek signing Borja Tranche, who played for Almoradi in the full back position when both teams met in first game of the season, went straight into the side.
Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go to plan, for after only 12 mins, an inch perfect corner by Manez was firmly headed into the back of Torry’s net by home defender Asensi.
However, parity was restored on 28 mins through a well worked goal by Flores, and then just 4 mins before the break, Amores put Torry ahead.
On 65 mins it was all square again, when the hosts wing man Manez scored a beauty from well outside the box, giving Torry keeper Buyo absolutely no chance.
Try as they may, Torry just couldn’t breach a stubborn Montforte defence, leaving them with only a solitary point from this exciting 2-2 draw.
So although Torry move up to 2nd spot, unbeaten after 6 games and only 2 points behind leaders Hercules ‘B’, they must kill off weaker opponents if they are to have a realistic chance of returning to the 3rd div.
On Sun 15 Oct, Torry are back inside Vicente Garcia stadium (check official club website for ko time), when they once again host another lowly side, this time it is Benferri who are their opponents.
