More than 50 aircraft from across Spain and the rest of Europe will take part in the San Javier Air Festival that will be held from May 3 to 5 on the beaches of Santiago de la Ribera, organized by the San Javier City Council.
The event, expects to bring together some 150,000 people, according to the mayor, José Miguel Luengo, who pointed out that it is an event of “top-level tourist promotion that will “help to energize everything that San Javier means to the thousands of people who are going to visit us during those days.”
The director of the event, Pablo González said that it will be “a unique opportunity to admire many types of aircraft that, usually, are difficult to see up close.” The Festival has already confirmed two flights of six planes from England and France, that have never previously visited Spain.
“We will have world-class aerobatic displays, dual formations, historical aviation groups, civil and military aerobatic patrols, from England, France, Italy and Switzerland, and aerobatic formations of historical aircraft,” said the Festival director who confirmed the presence of the Swiss national acrobatic patrol ‘Patrouille Suisse’, together with the San Miguel based ‘Eagle Acrobatic Patrol’.
The Councilor for Strategic Projects, Héctor Verdú, highlighted parallel program of activities that the whole family can enjoy during the weekend, in which they will also be able to watch the training of all the aircraft from the beach, starting on Friday afternoon until Sunday morning when the official display will take place, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The public will also be able to enjoy activities related to aeronautics at ground level in a ‘Play Zone’ that will be installed on the Barnuevo esplanade with children’s workshops, drones, virtual reality glasses, flight simulators and other attractions. There will also be a tent where the public can get signatures and photos from the participating pilots.
The music will be provided by the group Apache, on Friday, May 3, and by the group Conectados and the Argentine singer Coti on Saturday, May 4, in three free concerts that will also take place on the Barnuevo esplanade.
