The foreign population is greater in Torrevieja than the native Spaniards, although we are not on this occasion talking about the immigrant population, but rather in the case of births.
In fact, there are five towns, with a population greater than 10,000 inhabitants, in the Valencian Community where more than half of births are to foreign mothers.
Teulada-Moraira has the highest percentage of foreign mothers in the area (65.08%), followed by Torrevieja (56.23%), then Calpe (52.87%), and Xàbia (52.49%).
This is according to the latest data published by the Institut Valencià d’Estadística, relating to the year 2022, Teulada-Moraira registered a total of 63 births, of which 41 were to a foreign mother. In Torrevieja the total number of births were 578, of which 325 were to foreign mothers.
Pilar de la Horadada also makes the list, in 8th place, with 83 of the 171 births being to foreigners, 48.54%, followed by Rojales with 37 foreign babies from the 77 births, 48.05%, and Guardamar del Segura is in 12th place, 48 foreign births out of 100, then Almoradi, 81 out of 200.
Despite the generally growing population in Orihuela, the municipality only made 15th place in the foreign birth chart countdown, with a total of 572 births recorded, of which 218 were foreigners, just 38.11%,
It should be noted that in this statistic of the Natural Movement of the Population published by the IVE, only populations greater than 10,000 inhabitants appear, so other smaller municipalities are not included.
