The Department of Tourism has organised concerts of sacred music which will take place on Maundy Thursday night and the early hours of Good Friday in various venues across Orihuela.
In an effort to enrich the cultural experience of Orihuela’s residents and visitors during Holy Week, the Department has organised a programme of concerts on Maundy Thursday night, which will take place both before and after the Procession of Silence.
The concert programme will begin with a performance on the façade of the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Monserrate at 20:30h, followed by two more, one on the façade of the Church of Santas Justa y Rufina and another in the Church of Santiago, at 21:30h, all three concerts on the night of Maundy Thursday, before the start of the Procession of Silence.
The concerts continue in the early hours of Good Friday morning at 00:15h on the façade of Santo Domingo, followed by another at 00:30h on the façade of the S.I. Catedral Plaza del Salvador.
These concerts will be given by quartets formed by distinguished teachers from the Professional Conservatory of Music of Orihuela, who will perform a selection of sacred music specially chosen for the occasion.
