The Mojácar Mayor Francisco García has visited the works of the locality’s future health centre to find out about the progress on the building works, which are now close to completion.
He was joined by José Maldonado, the Grupo Copsa construction company architect, and the councillors, Noemí Linares and María Gracia Alarcón, members of his government team.
The new health centre is 2,398sqm of construction on a 9,196sqm plot donated by the Local Council. It is located in the Rambla de Campos area, next to the road that connects the village and the beach. It will have an emergency area with a special entrance for ambulances and a separate entrance. This area will be made up of two doctors’ consulting rooms, two nursing consulting rooms and a critical care consulting room, a consulting room with two chair stations for respiratory treatment, a consulting room with a bed and chair for observation, six bedrooms for professionals on duty, a waiting room and an area that could be isolated in the event of patients who need this due to their particular illness.
The consultation area is made up of three family medicine consulting rooms and three for nursing, each of the doctors’ consulting rooms attached and communicated with the nursing consulting rooms; a paediatrics consulting room in a large children’s area, also equipped with a nursing consulting room; an odontology consulting room; a consulting room for the veterinarian who carries out public health work; a multipurpose consulting room for cytology, ultrasound and minor surgery as well as physiotherapy facilities with two places.
The new facilities will also have a radiology area, with the provision of an X-ray machine to carry out radiological tests. In addition to the communal areas for the professionals, also planned are waiting rooms for each consulting room and a large reception and user service area, with three sufficiently separated service stations, as well as a space for parking the ambulance, with electrical connections and close to the emergency door.
It is located on Avenida de Andalucía, a strategic location between the beach area and the old town, and with the best communication conditions, both for access and for evacuations in the event of emergencies. Worth highlighting is the fact that it is a sustainable building, for achieving a rational use of the necessary energy, renewable and environmentally friendly.
Francisco García expressed his satisfaction with the health centre, which will be one of the best in Spain and very necessary in the area. It extends the health services to those that Mojácar currently does not have and that require patients to travel to other locations. He highlighted the unbeatable location, between the beach area and the village, the easy communication in the case of emergencies, both for access to it and for the quick transfer of the most seriously ill.
For the Mojácar Mayor, as well as being a demand that the people of Mojácar and the Local Council have been demanding for a long time, the creation of this centre is also an important step in being able to offer permanent and quality services, also aimed at breaking seasonality and increasing the number of permanent residents in the municipality.
