The Councillor for Agriculture, Noelia Grao, this morning presented the XIV Organic Food Conference to be held on 2 March at the school in Hurchillo, which on this occasion will be dedicated to the Vega Baja artichoke and Benejúzar garlic, while tribute will also be paid to the Orihuela native Ramón López Cabrera.
The councillor was accompanied by Joaquín Marzá, director of the CEIP “Manuel Riquelme” in Hurchillo, as well as Alfredo San Inocencio, from the commercial department of Cátering 45, and José Martianera, in charge of the school canteen.
Grao said that “we are fortunate to present a new edition of this popular event in which we promote the Mediterranean diet, a healthy diet, and we value winter products such as broccoli or artichokes”.
Joaquín Marzá explained that throughout the day, families and children will be able to hear from experts who will talk about healthy eating, see the chefs who will be preparing recipes “in situ” and taste the products that are the stars of the day.
The event is open to the general public from 10:00 to 14:00″.
Marzá also highlighted the collaboration of the Miguel Hernández University, through the Polytechnic School of Orihuela (EPSO).
From Cátering 45, the head of the commercial department stressed “the importance of promoting healthy habits in the school environment and we hope that these days will continue for the benefit of the children who participate in them”.
Finally, the head of the canteen at the Hurchillo school said that “we are looking forward to attending this event and continuing to work on the Mediterranean diet in the canteen with the pupils”.
