A fire in a field, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, has destroyed orchards, vegetation and a large number of trees on the Camino de Catral, in the municipality of Almoradí.
The flames, which reached several meters high, spread to at least two homes, with the Civil Guard and the Local Police carrying out an evacuation of some residents for their safety. Fortunately there was little damage to any of the properties with the homeowners able to return to their properties once the fire was stabilized.
The firefighters from the Orihuela and Almoradí parks completed the firefighting operation at 9:13 a.m., five hours after they initially attended the scene (4:04 a.m.). There were no injuries.
On Monday morning there was a further outbreak in San Fulgencio where firefighters intervened in a fire on the N-332.
The bomberas fought the fire for two hours, from 7:07 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., finally extinguishing it in the vegetation of the area’s grove, where it had affected a group of palm trees .
After extinguishing the fire, the firefighters, who have attended from the Almoradí park, continued to spray water across the area to prevent possible outbreaks.
