The Spanish under-16 tennis team, led by Charo Esquiva and captained by Emilio Viuda, has won the final of the first phase of the European Nations Championship that ended at the weekend in the Portuguese town of Lousada. In the competition final they beat Bulgaria 2-1.
The final did not start very well after Carla Vázquez’s defeat against Aleksandra Rangelova by 6-4 6-4 byt Charo was able to level to tie at 1-1 with her 6-0 6-7 6-0 victory over Briyana Ivanova.
The doubles match decided the final and Charo, together with Carlota García, defeated Bryana Ivanova and Aleksandra Rangelova 7-5 4-6 10-8.
On February 16 they will play the final phase of the European championship “Winter Cup” together with the other 7 best European teams in the French town of Brest.
