Dolores is joining the growing list of municipalities that have approved, or will soon adopt, increases in local taxes. They join Guardamar (PSOE), Redován (PP) and Pilar de la Horadada (PP), councils that have all recently justified the measure with increases in the costs of the waste collection service, which includes the costs of transport to landfills, and the increase of energy prices for lighting and fuel, which has triggered current spending forecasts.
None of the four municipalities in question, made any mention of such increases in their election manifesto’s when they were campaigning for government during the local elections earlier in the year, despite the fact that the economic situation was already pointing to the need to adopt them.
In Dolores it is expected that IBI will increase by 50% and the waste collection rate will go from 90 to 140 euros per year. The increase will be applicable for the year 2024.
