Mojácar Council has held its first extraordinary plenary session, on an extraordinary basis, since the new corporation was established on the 7th of July following the 28th of May local elections.
The agenda included the composition of the political groups and the designation of the corresponding spokespeople, Rosa María Cano being appointed spokesperson for the Popular Party and María del Mar Marín for the Socialist Party.
Rosa María Cano will be First Deputy Mayor and Noemí Linares, Second Deputy Mayor.
Jesús Montoya and María Gracia Alarcón will be third and fourth Deputy Mayor respectively.
The Mojácar Council Local Government Board, which takes on the functions of assistance and advice to the mayor’s office, is made up of: the Mojácar Mayor, Francisco García Cerdá, who will preside, and the councillors Rosa María Cano, Noemí Linares, Jesús Montoya and María Gracia Alarcón.
The government board has, among many other powers, responsibility for the development of economic management in accordance with the approved budget, the arrangement of expenditure within the limits of its responsibility, approval of the offer of public employment and the staff approved in plenary session, instruments of urban management and urbanisation projects, granting of licences, enforcement of compliance with Local Council agreements and in general those that are expressly attributed to it by the laws assigned to the municipality and which are not the responsibility of other municipal bodies.
The general delegation of responsibilities for the management of the affairs of their respective areas of action was approved as follows: Councillor Attached to the Mayor’s Office, Social Services, Cleaning, Gardening and Cemetery, Rosa María Cano Montoya; Councillor for Culture, Childhood, Education, Finance and Subsidies, Noemi Linares Ortiz; Councillor for Festivities, Sport, Youth and Civil Protection, Jesús Antonio Montoya Gredilla; Councillor for Tourism, Transport, Contracting, Commerce and New Technology, María Gracia Alarcón García; Councillor for Works, Heritage, Environment and Land Registry, Sergio Alonso Soler; Councillor for Health, the Elderly and Parks, Ana María García Fernández; Councillor for Relations with Foreigners and Citizen Engagement, María Luisa Pérez López.
In addition, the representatives of Mojácar were appointed to the different organisations in which the municipality has powers, hence, the Mayor, Francisco García Cerdá, will be on the Conservation Entities and Compensation Boards and on the Almería Levante Region Municipalities Association. María Gracia Alarcón will represent Mojácar on the Tourism Board and Rosa María Cano in the Almería Levante Region Firefighting and Rescue Consortium and in GALASA. Jesús Montoya Gredilla in the Almanzora Levante Consortium and Noemí Linares on the school councils of the Bartolomé Flores infant and junior school and the Rey Alabez secondary school, Sergio Alonso being the representative on PRODER.
