After eight years in the hands of PSOE and Compromís, Pablo Ruz will take over as mayor of the Elche City Council on 17 June, following confirmation of their agreement with Vox.
The leader of the Popular Party will take the reins despite achieving one seat and 1,500 votes fewer than the PSOE, and just as soon as he does so the many demands from civic groups, employers, unions and associations, will start to come in thick and fast.
But he says that he has a backpack loaded with electoral promises that he will start to put in place just as soon as he is handed the leadership baton, which include many improvements to the educational, economic and social fabric of the municipality.
