Emergency services were put to the test in Torrevieja this week, rescuing victims off a floating dinghy off the coast of Torrevieja.
However, on this occasion, it was an exercise to test the responsiveness and coordination between the rescue services, namely the Proteccion Civil, and Cruz Roja, which also included a team from Alicante.
The stranded people were brought ashore from the dinghy and met in a purpose-built tent, where they were processed and cared for.
The exercise was deemed a success and will enable the groups to work together more fluidly in the event of a real situation, which occurs all too often off the coast of the Costa Blanca, sometimes with fatal consequences.
