The Murcia Regional Airport at Corvera will have new domestic routes from November, with Madrid offering competition for the newly inaugurated AVE High-Speed Train, as well as direct flights to Barcelona.

Fernando López Miras, President of the Region of Murcia, made the announcement to tourist sector businesses, confirming the “contract to establish” these routes will be formalised this week.

The idea is that from November the Region of Murcia International Airport will have two round-trip connections a week with both cities, “once the administrative process started months ago has finished”, the president indicated.

The measure to connect Murcia with Madrid and the city of Barcelona was raised by numerous business leaders due to “the deficient AVE service provided in the Region”, the PP leader, who is also standing for re-election, therefore announced, “connections with Madrid are recovered after more than six years”.
