A photo of a dead woman at Torrevieja bus station has been posted on social media – with members of the public passing by the deceased, who was covered over with a blanket as she lay on the ground of the bus station.
The photo appeared on the Facebook page ‘Torrevieja Today’.
It is said that people were wandering around as if nothing had happened, with one person sitting less than a metre from the body, waiting for their bus.
“Beyond going into whether or not the police cordoned off the area, whether it was done right or wrong, it scares me to see so much indifference and insensitivity from the people who were nearby,” said one posting on ‘Torrevieja Today’.
They added: “I don’t know if this deceased person would have relatives or not, but I send my condolences to whom it may concern. D.E.P.”
Following the post, members of the Forum said: “Surely someone should have been there guarding the body of the poor person, until an ambulance arrived? Very sad,” said one comment.
Another said that the deceased had received full health care, and did not die alone.
“The woman who passed away had full health care, I have said it before and it is my strength, she did not die alone.
“There were almost 9 health workers who did everything humanly possible to save her life.
Reports in the Spanish press said that the deceased was a 58-year-old woman who died of a heart attack, and that she was attended by both a Basic Life Support Ambulance (SVB) and a SAMU Unit, medical staff from which performed cardiac massage and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation, without being able to obtain a response.
