Animal carer Kim Halliwell has revealed that she is being targeted by ‘haters’ – despite taking in 12,000 animals spanning over three decades.

“I can honestly say in 65 years on this earth I’ve never felt as low and sad as I do now,” said Kim.

“I’m normally a positive person – but people all the time want to bring me down.

“I don’t know how to go on anymore. 12,000 animals rescued over 30 years – and still people talk badly of me,” she said.

Kim, who lives in a mobile home in Almería, with no electricity or water, said: “I have 27 dogs, 19 kittens and 20 cats – plus run a rescue centre with 92 dogs and around 60 cats.

“I’ve given my life – and the constant criticism is killing me.

Animal lovers within the Alicante and Murcia provinces, and fellow rescuers across Europe, have come to Kim’s aid, with support to carry on.

Andrea Tracht from Germany said: “I am very sorry for you.  But you know, when people put others down, they only do it to uplift themselves.

“You are amazing and I thank you every day for taking care of the homeless animals, so devotedly.

“I’m sure that a lot more people love you for it, than the ‘doofs’ who think they have to talk or write bad about you.  Please don’t give up.”

Danielle Demarteau from France, said: “All the people who do good to our four-legged friends have my gratitude.

“Rest a little, ask for help, and you will leave with full batteries to help these wonderful creatures that have been put in your way, they need you. Courage and stay positive.”

There are animal rescue centres in the Costa Blanca and Costa Calida regions that fully support her life work.

Despite Kim’s horrid time, she said: “I have had so much support – huge support – and I thank those people.

“Of course I have to continue, but some days are very hard and yesterday was my worst.

“I will not let the haters win. I will find my inner strength for my animals – and battle on.”
