Spanish aristocrat, Alejandra de Rojas, who has been named as the illegitimate daughter of the former king, Juan Carlos I, has categorically denied the rumours, in a statement that she released to the EFE Press Agency.
In her first public statement, De Rojas said: “Given the news published last week following the preview of a book that will be be published shortly, and the endless news that has appeared in the press, radio, television and on social networks about me, I am forced to emphatically deny that I am the ‘secret daughter’ of King Juan Carlos. Neither is he my father, nor have I received any special treatment during my childhood or youth, due to that false allegation”.
“The news that has been published has no foundation and causes almost irreparable damage to my entire family and of course to myself, for which I reserve the right to take legal action against the authors of the book,” she said.
She also recorded her admiration and gratitude to both parents, now deceased, to whom she says she owes everything “and whose honour is safe for all those who knew them.”
Last week, in a book written by journalists José María Olmo and David Fernández entitled ‘King Corp’, the two men wrote of a supposed secret daughter of King Juan Carlos. The revelation was picked up by various media which reported that it could be De Rojas, daughter of the aristocrat Rosario Palacios, who died in 2016.
However, last Friday, King Juan Carlos denied having had an out-of-wedlock relationship with the aristocrat Rosario Palacios, as was reported, and “consequently having had a daughter with her.”
In statements to EFE, the former king, who now lives in exile in Abu Dhabi, explained that “out of respect for the truth and honour” of the people affected, he was forced to deny this story “rejecting and condemning as false everything that has been published in relation to this concocted matter.”
