Despite being criticised during this legislature for ignoring the plight of some of the most vulnerable residents of the town, and failing to support those trying to help, the Partido Popular candidate for Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, who is of course the current Mayor, met with representatives of 24 local NGOs to vow to support them this time, if he gets elected.
Dolón offered his support to AFA, ADIEM, ASIMEPP, Alimentos Solidarios Torrevieja, Nueva Fraternidad, Cáritas “Sagrado Corazón”, Cáritas “La Inmaculada”, Cruz Roja Torrevieja, APANEE, AFECANCER, Reach Out, Esperanza y Vida, APAEX, GAEX, AMFA, ALPE, Pedigüeños de Cristo, ORIDA, Alicante contra el Cáncer, Donaciones Torrevieja y alrededores, Juntos Somos Más Fuertes, Acércate Rumanía, Manos Unidas and ASILA.
Dolón has committed to all entities, among other issues, to maintain and continue betting on the call for aid to NGOs, improving the economic amounts and adapting the bases to the needs of all of them.
Also, to promote the training and coordination of the associative fabric of Torrevieja; promote the employment of people with functional diversity through an employment plan generated from the ADL together with local associations, as well as continue promoting volunteering, increasing investment in campaigns to promote and disseminate work carried out by all local associations.
Eduardo Dolón has highlighted his commitment to launch assisted housing for people with functional diversity, in addition to promoting a specialised area in the Council to help process the different requests for access to sheltered apartments and autonomous housing for people with functional diversity. In addition, a point of information, orientation and advice will be created for the creation of new NGOs and constitute the “table of functional diversity”.
