Whilst the political groups are starting to fly their flags with promises of what they might achieve next time, those ignoring the younger generation my well suffer the consequences, as there are more young people eligible to vote in these next elections than in 2019.
Across the Valencia region, a total of 186,871 new voters will be able to play their part in the running of local governments in the next elections on May 28, after having turned 18 since the previous 2019 elections were held, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). This figure also includes those who reach the age on May 28, 2023.
By provinces, in Alicante there are 66,933 new voters, 21,395 in Castellón and 98,543 in Valencia.
This figure represents a considerable increase compared to the 2019 elections (around 10%) since, on that occasion, there were 164,779 people who voted for the first time compared to the 2015 elections.
These new 186,871 voters represent more than 5% of the total of 3,606,314 people with the right to vote registered in the Valencian Community.
