Not to be confused with World Tapas Day, celebrated every year on 16 June, Torrevieja is celebrating International Tapas Day this weekend on Saturday 24 September.
It is the sixth edition of Torrevieja’s International Tapas Day celebration, organised by the town hall, and in conjunction with the Association of Hospitality Companies of Torrevieja and Region, and this year will have the participation of 14 associated establishments, where you can get tapas and a drink for 3 euro.
Last year, there were 21 bars and restaurants taking part and it only cost 2.50 euro, the same price as 2020, when 23 establishments took part, in fact, the price has been constant since the event began in 2016, when 33 establishments took part, and a free bus service was organised from the urbanisations into the centre of the town so more people could take part, but like most things this year, it was inevitable the price would increase, whilst the offerings decrease.
Incidentally, it’s not quite clear where the “international” element comes into it.
This gastronomic event will be held from 12:00 to 16:30, and from 19:30 to 23:00, where participating establishments will offer their best tapas at “affordable” prices during the set schedule.
