ELCHE Handball held a minutes silence – following the triple murder of members of the same family committed in Elche this month – in the first leg of the EHF Cup quarter finals against Rocasa Gran Canaria.
The game was played at the Esperanza Lag pavilion in Elche with 700 spectators in attendance.
Elche handball and Rocasa Gran Canaria met on February 20 in a replay, after drawing 22-22 in the first leg of the EHF Cup quarter finals.
Coach Robert Cuesta’s Elche team travelled to Canaria for the replay, having been without their star player, Ivet Musons, sidelined due to muscle problems in the Cup tie at Elche.
Club Balonmano Elche, also known as Elche Mustang, is a women’s handball club who compete in the División de Honor, the top tier in the Spanish league system.
Founded in 1958 they play at Poliesportiu de Carius arena.
Elche mens play in the 1a National Masculina Group E, under Head coach Joaquín Rocamora, with the club President being Juan Antonio Ascencio.
