The cleaning department at Santa Pola town hall has announced a public tender to award a contract, worth 50 thousand euro, with the aim of managing the non-hazardous resources of the EcoParque.
The contract will see winning company deal with the elimination of this waste, divided into 5 lots: mattresses, pruning remains, household goods, rubble and wood.
The Santa Pola EcoParque has accumulated more than 10,000 mattresses that have been piled up in the area since 2015.
The councillor responsible for the area, Encarni Ramírez, indicates that “we have been working on this problem since 2019 because the accumulation of mattresses exceeds 10,000, despite the fact that in the last 2 years we have dealt with some 4,000 mattresses.”
“The problem – indicates Ramírez – is that between 2015 and 2019 absolutely nothing was done, those responsible for the City Council in that period looked the other way, and so many mattresses have accumulated, that we have to solve it as soon as possible”.
The new contract also contemplates the removal of household goods, pruning debris, debris and wood debris. The company that is awarded the contract must guarantee the transport and disposal process in a sustainable manner.
