Carlos Pérez has left Valencia 1st Regional Group 9 SC Torrevieja CF following a disapointing run of resulñts.
The club announced the Board of Directors had decided to rescind the agreement with coach Pérez.
“Much to our regret, and with great sadness, the decision has been adopted with the aim of trying to change course in the current situation in which we find ourselves,” said a club statement.
SC Torrevieja CF suffered a 1-0 defeat at CF Rafal on January 16, that saw them drop to sixth in the table on 21 points, 10 points behind leaders Atletico de Catral.
The club’s statement added: “We face the second part of the season with the clear objective that we set for ourselves, which is none other than the promotion to the Preferente Division.
“We want to publicly thank Carlos for his effort, dedication and constant dedication in defending our club.
“You will always be part of the entity’s history by having been our first coach and having achieved promotion to First Regional in the 2020-2021 season.
“From the Board of Directors of SC Torrevieja CF we want to wish you the greatest success in your future projects.”
Pérez successor is Jesús Santander, a former player at Torrevieja, C.F., and former head coach at CD Montesinos.
“Jesus Santander arrives with experience as a coach, knowledgeable about the squad and capable of assuming the objective set for this season,” added the club statement.
Murcia born Santander who played for FC Torrevieja in the Preferente Division, retired following injury.
A youth prodigy at Real Madrid, Malaga and Real Murcia, Santander represented the Community of Valencia at U15-17 levels.
He was appointed manager at Valencia 1st Regional Group 9 CD Montesinos in the 2019-20 season, gaining promotion.
Santander replaced caretaker manager Ruben at Montesinos in July 2019, who was temporarily put in charge after the departure of Carlos Pérez in November 2018.
