The Spanish press is reporting that Barcelona are considering an approach for Boye as they seek a to sign a new striker.
The Argentine forward is enjoying his second season with the Illicitanos, which in the summer bought him from Torino after a loan spell last season. He has 14 goals in 52 gameswith Elche, six in 16 appearances during this campaign.
Boye was previously with Celta Vigo, although he failed to score for them.
At 25 he would take the Luuk de Jong role, so his arrival would depend on the Dutchman leaving. However, due to the dutchman’s recent upturn in form Xavi is beginning to rethink his transfer plans. It is now suggested that Xavi would be prepared to see Memphis Depay sold this month ahead of De Jong.
Meanwhile, Elche announced this Tuesday that the first team coach, Francisco Rodríguez, has tested positive for Covid-19 after last Sunday’s match against Villarreal. The franjiverde coach, who underwent tests last Sunday after feeling unwell, remains at home in good health.
He will not be able to attend the Copa del Rey last 16 tie on Thursday at home to real Madrid. In addition, the assistant coach, Jaime Ramos also, tested positive last week.
