All beaches in Torrevieja were placed out of bounds on Tuesday 24 August – due to a plethora of algae in the sea and large quantities washed ashore.

“Today (August 24) it is prohibited to bathe on all the beaches in Torrevieja, due to a build up of algae,” said a spokesperson from Torrevieja City.
