Orihuela City opened its Christmas Program on Friday with the turning on of its Christmas lights in front of the town hall. Following performances by the voices of the Ginés Pérez de la Parra choir conducted by Rosario Torres Salinas and the Wind Orchestra of the Municipal Conservatory of Music of Orihuela under the direction of Antonio Pujol the party moved to the Episcopal Palace, where the Mayor of Orihuela and the councillor of Festivities unveiled the Municipal Crib.
On the Orihuela Costa the lights will be turned on by the mayor in a ceremony outside the Playa Flamenca Town Hall next Friday evening, 13 December, at 6pm.
The following Thursday evening, also at 6pm, along with local choirs, the Band of the Royal British Legion in Spain will be hosting a carol service in Zenia Boulevard. This will be the first such event ever held on the coast in which it is hoped to replicate the success that the Torrevieja carol service has been enjoying for many years.
