- Pilar de la Horadada will have an emergency landing heli-pad
The Mayor of Pilar de la Horadada, José María Pérez Sánchez, met the team of firefighters last week who will be covering emergencies in the municipality during the summer months. He was accompanied by the Councillor for Public Safety, Marina Sáez, and the Provincial deputy of Emergencies Jaume Lloret
The service will be provided for 12 hours a day, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., between 15 July and 15 September, and will consist of a corporal and three firemen with a tender and a support vehicle. The City Council will also provide a fire tender with a capacity of 3,000 litres that was recently acquired at a cost more than one hundred thousand euros.
Jaime Lloret announced that “the municipality will also have a helipad emergency landing area, which will be used by all of the emergency services, firefighters, health emergencies, police or Red Cross. He said that the intension is to establish a total of 12 helisurfaces throughout the province and one of which will be in Pilar de la Horadada “.
The Mayor said that such a facility was important to the municipality due to the increase in population that Pilar de la Horadada records during the summer.
The fire service is provided by Civil Protection throughout the year but is usually reinforced during the summer season in areas where there is a high risk.
One of the teams will be earmarked as a first responder for forest fires, their surveillance and prevention.
The councillor for Public Safety, Marina Sáez added that “this fire cover is essential during the summer due to the increase in population, traffic and high risk of fires in areas such as Pinar de Campoverde, Pinar de la Perdiz and Sierra Escalona. ”
