A great turnout saw 55 players take on one of the best courses in the area which proved pretty challenging especially when the wind got up on the back nine hindering a few cards. None more so than the affable Gordy Brindley who showed his strength holding up the whole Society with a miserly 15 pts!!
The 2’s pot proved pretty elusive going to just two players…well done to Gareth Davies and Phil Wright. Nearest the pins sponsored by our hosts The Ale House went to five different golfers…Jonny Gray, Martin Wiltshire, Phil De Lacy, Gareth Davies and Theo Boelhouwer. Well done guys and Thank you, Karl, Lisa and the staff for once again looking after us all so well – we were thirsty – it was hot out there!
Best Lady of the day saw Jane Cowan pick up the prize with 29pts off handicap 30.
With 13 guest showing up Ian Rhodes came 3rd with 30 pts off 13 behind Laurie Brain with 31pts off 19 just pipped by and showing his old man how to do it James Perrott with 32 off 18.
In our categories Silver saw Jim Bowman in 3rd with 31 off 26, Alan Carter 2nd with 32 off 20 and with the best score of the day and catching the eye of the handicap secretary Jonny Gray with a fantastic 38 pts off 18.
Gold saw the closest finish we have had with three players all with 34pts but after checking back 9 scores and then back 6 Mike Thornton was declared winner off handicap 9 ahead of Lee Holtham off 13 and Matt Taylor off 5.
Well done to all players as we move to our local track Villamartin 12.07.19 which is fully subscribed but do log on as a reserve at www.theplazagolfsociety.com as people do drop out prior to the event.
