This year´s Captain´s Day stableford was held on Friday 28 June at our home course La Marquesa. Extensive redevelopment is currently being carried out on the course and, in some areas, it seemed more like a building site with diggers, lorries and cranes! We are clearly looking forward to playing the promising new course layout once completed in the new year.
Undeterred by the disruption, Captain Arty Crammon drove off the first tee to begin the competition and we were off for a game of many prizes. Thanks go to all those who worked behind the scenes and helped to ensure the event was a success, and a special mention to Susie and Lesley who kept everyone fed and watered on the 10th tee.
The presentation and post-match refreshments were held at the Olde 9th– Well done to all the prize winners and there were prizes for one and all. Arty announced the scores in reverse order and generously presented each player with a prize.
The following players are those who won our usually reported prizes: N.T.Ps hole 5 Glen Roberts hole 11 Hadge Armstrong hole 14 Robin Richards and hole 16 Felix Mallon. Best front nine Carin van der Kruijs 22 pts and best back nine Jeff Lynch with 24 pts. Third place went to Bob Shorley 41 pts c/b second was John Dodds also with 41 pts and competition winner Dave Nichols with an impressive 44 pts.
It only remains to say very well done Arty and thanks for the all the hard work. A great day was had by all.
