SCOTT Fitzgerald has pulled out of a super welterweight fight against Brian Rose in July – after sustaining injury while sparring in Spain.
“After injuring my hand sparring in Tenerife, and giving it time to rest, I’m still unable to hit anything with it,” rued Preston born Fitzgerald,
Fitzgerald, who caused a major upset in defeating Anthony Fowler in March, to win the super welterweight belt, is eyeing a return to the ring in September, against British Lonsdale title belt holder Ted Cheeseman.
“I want to get the problem sorted then I can be 100% for the British title,” said Fitzgerald, who is also suffering a shoulder problem and needs surgery on a finger injury.
