Andante International Choir, a primarily classical group comprised of singers from different European countries, such as England, Holland, and Scandinavia, performed two well-attended concerts in Costa Blanca early in April.
The choral group, made up of sopranos, altos, tenors and basses, performed selections from Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria, a sacred Latin work, Friday April 5 at Parish Nuestra Senora del Pilar in Los Montesinos and Sunday, April 7 at Parish Pablo y Pedro in Torrevieja. Funds raised by these concerts went to these churches and to the Spanish Catholic charity group Caritas.
Other classical and sacred music was sung by Andante Choir at both concerts, including John Rutter’s popular The Lord Bless You and Keep You, Cantique de Jean Racine by Gabriel Faure, O Lord, Hear My Prayer by Jacques Berthier and Who is Silvia by George Shearing.
At both concerts, Andante’s musical director Karen Blagbrough played Chanson by Rutter on the flute and the group’s pianist, Natalyia Khomyak, performed the piano piece Anguish by Ukrainian composer Mykola Lysenko. Andante International Choir has just completed its second year of operation, with plans to perform more concerts in autumn 2019.
