The Hi-Life bar and restaurant at Via Park 3 really burst into life on the 23rd when the great Campoverde Reef Band took to the stage and launched themselves straightaway into a non-stop selection of popular songs taken from over the last 50 odd years.
The event, organised by Torrevieja U3A, saw the nearly full capacity crowd of members and guests take to the floor right from the outset, happily singing and dancing along to the great music. The only break came at half-time when a superb hot/cold buffet was provided by Gino and his staff. An amazing selection of multi-cultural dishes was presented (not a sandwich or crisp in sight!) and there was more than enough food to satisfy everybody.
Dancing and singing recommenced after the meal and continued non-stop until the end of the evening. A thoroughly enjoyable night for all concerned, with even the band really enjoying themselves. They have, since their inception, played at charity functions all over the Orihuela Costa and have helped to raise over €56,000 for many worthy causes.
This night was no exception, as the small profits made from the ticket sales will be going into the U3A charity kitty to eventually provide desperately needed dining equipment for their current cause, Orihuela Orphans and Childrens Home which is supported purely by voluntary contributions.
The day of presenting the equipment has now crept just a bit nearer, thanks to all of the participants.
If you have never seen the Campoverde Reef Band in action, get to Zenia Boulevard on April 5th and watch them perform for yet another charity. You should be well pleased.
