The Thursday afternoon tennis club session celebrated their yearly prize giving recently. The Thursday tennis session runs throughout the year from 3-5pm on the courts at the Campoamor golf club.
Each week the winner and second placed player are awarded points, depending upon the number of players participating, more points are on offer if more players attend.
The venue this year was “Market Street” restaurant in San Miguel. The tennis group also participate in group padel training every Saturday morning and any non tennis playing padel players were invited to the meal as well. A total of 41 different players had been 1st or 2nd place during the year and after totting up all the scores, the results were as follows.
5th =Lisa Mansfield and James O’Shea – 37 pts
4th Christine Reed – 41 pts
3rd Christine Claughton – 47 pts
2nd Kate Woods – 53 pts
1st Graham Bunker – 100 pts
This was the third year in a row that Graham had won and his winning speeches get longer each year, luckily, they get better as well, managing to mention everyone and mimic most people. Graham will have to be handicapped this year. Congratulations to Chris Claughton, who took the second prize cup, as second placed, Kate, left for England at the end of the year.
Everybody agreed, the food, the company and the speeches were all really enjoyable and a great time was had by all.
