Mister Fisher – tipped by The Leader’s racing correspondent Andrew Atkinson – was successful when landing the SkyBet Supreme Trial at Haydock Park on Saturday.
“Mister Fisher is a supreme horse – winning – despite the ground conditions not suiting him,” said trainer Nicky Henderson.
Mister Fisher gained a 2 1/2 length win, returning at even money, it being jockey James Bowen’s 27th winner for Henderson.
“I was very impressed – he’s got an incredible engine,” said Bowen.
Mister Fisher is set to run at the big Cheltenham Festival in March, and Bowen said: “He’s very clever and got a lot of talent. Hopefully he’ll get better.”
Altior, gained his 17th successive win, selected by The Leader, when winning the Matchbook Clarence House Stakes (3.35) at Ascot.
“He’s done well, it’s great. He was idling, but had a good time,” said trainer Nicky Henderson.
Altior was uncharacteristic in jumping left, and Henderson said he doesn’t like left handed courses.
Jockey Nico De Boinville said: “Jumping left. He was having a good look around – that was what all that was about.”
Altior is set to head to Cheltenham in March and De Boinville said: “He’s a smashing horse. He can have a nice break now ahead of Cheltenham. Bring it on!.”
Forbidden Fruit (4-5) was a winning tip at Lingfield (1.25) with Ryan Moore successful on the Roger Charlton trained horse in the Betway Handicap over 1 mile and 2 furlongs.
Probability (4-5) obliged for Leader punters when winning the Betway Stakes (3.10) the Archie Watson trained horse, ridden by Edward Greatrex gaining a 2 length victory ahead of Sea Of Reality.
Thomas Darby (1-5) completed a trio of Leader tips when winning at Taunton (1.40) under Aiden Coleman.
Leader tip Narjes (5-1) ridden by Luke Morris was pipped when going down a neck to Global Wonder in a photo finish at Lingfield (12.50).
Silver Streak (5-2) finished second behind Global Citizen at Haydock (2.40) after making a mistake three out, that ultimately cost him the race in the Unibet Hurdle over 1 mile 7 furlongs.
Seddon (7-2) finished third in the Matchbook Holloway Handicap Hurdle over 2 miles 3 furlongs at Ascot (2.25).
Downtown Getaway (4-5) was The Leader’s SIXTH winning selection, the Nicky Henderson trained horse beating Champagne Well a short head, ridden by Nico De Boinville in the National Hunt Novices Hurdle over 2 miles 5 furlongs.
Um Shama was The Leader’s seventh winning selection when winning at Wolverhampton’s evening meeting, returning at 5-1. Headline tip Apex Predator ran second at 6-1 at the Midlands track.
