Help at Home Costa Blanca volunteers get some strange requests from clients and this must be the most unusual to date. When volunteers Eileen and Tony Mayes were asked to befriend an 82-year-old recently widowed woman, Maureen Kilby, the last thing they were expecting was to arrange the scattering of her late husband’s ashes at sea.
But a few weeks later plans were complete and her close relatives, one from America, were on hand to attend a short ceremony.
It was officiated by the Pastor of the International Christian Assembly in Torrevieja, Rafael Restrepo and ashes were scattered into the sea south of Torre de la Horadada.
The charity looks after scores of clients in the Orihuela Costa and Quesada areas, helping with shopping, taking people to hospitals and doctors, plus general chores, helping them get back on their feet again.
