Members of Lancashire cycling clubs, the Preston Wheelers and North Lancs, Blackburn and Hyndburn, are in Spain following in the tracks of the Vuelta.
The UK cyclists, based in Guardamar, stopped off in Los Montesinos, Alicante, to take in liquid refreshments in the hot temperatures that returned to the Vega Baja after recent severe storms.
Top cycling teams in Spain competed in the 13th edition of the Vuelta Civilista of Alicante province Gran Premio Costa Blanca earlier this year.
The first stage got underway in May, with 18 teams, three being international, competing over three stages.
San Fulgencio, Rojales, Formentera del Segura, Almoradi, Dolores, Catral, San Isidro, Granja de Rocamara, Cox, Callosa de Segura, Rafal and Orihuela towns saw streets filled with enthusiastic support during Vuelta.
“To follow in the tracks of the Vuelta has been something to savour, in what has been favourable weather conditions,” said a spokesperson from North Lancs club.
