Once again, the Poppy Appeal 2018 at the Iceland store in San Javier raised a record amount of €3771 which will go towards the total raised by Orihuela Costa and District branch of the Royal British Legion for use in helping members and former members of the Armed Services, based in Spain.
Diana and her team, Graham (pictured), Sandy, Patrice, Brian and Sylvia, Walter and Sue, Michael, Malcolm and Chris, Jo and Dennis, would like to thank all the staff and especially the customers, who donated so generously to achieve the total, which is some €400 more than last year. Possibly this was due to the effect from commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of the first World War, but the team thinks that people were just extra generous this year and hopes that this will continue in the years to come.
Perhaps people are realising that it is not simply the families of the World War soldiers, sailors and airmen who are being helped, but also those who have, or sadly have not returned from recent wars such as Iraq and Afghanistan.
We will all be in San Javier in 2019 and hope to meet everyone again.
