A man was arrested in Alicante after leaving his son and another child in the street for most of the night, waiting for him while he was visiting a brothel.
Agents from the Local Police found the two youngsters sitting on a pavement and huddled against the side of a building at about 5am on Wednesday morning. When questioned they were found to have been sitting there for almost two hours.
The two children aged 12 and 13 were told to wait whilst he was going to see a friend.
On his return the man was arrested for a crime of abandonment of minors after which he spent a night in the cells. On Friday morning he appeared before the magistrate Jose Luis de la Fuente, after which he was released with charges.
The children were located by agents of the night service of the Local Police attached to the group which tackles gender violence and minors (Gavid), who were surprised by the presence of the pair in the street and completely alone at five o’clock in the morning. They were in front of a building known to house prostitution services.
When questioned by the magistrate the man said that he had left the two young boys in the street because the building was a bad influence and not a place where the children should be.
However according to the testimony given by the lady in charge of the premises, the man first appeared with his son and the other child with the idea of them accompanying him inside, but they were all refused entry as a result of which he left them outside and entered alone.
The children were taken to the homes of their respective grandmothers while the detainee was taken to the police station after being examined at a health centre.
