Javier Manzanares, the councillor responsible for Torrevieja’s beaches, said he was delighted that the council was now able to introduce a lifeguard service seven days a week through to 15 September.
The mid season service got underway last Friday Los Náufragos beach, El Cura, Los Locos, La Mata Sur and La Mata Centro.
From July 1 to August 31, the service will be extended to Cala Piteras, Cabo Cervera, la Mata pueblo and las Piscinas de Juan Aparicio.
During this period, over 50 lifeguards will be employed from 11.00 to 19.00 hours. There will also be two jet ski’s and dinghy’s available to the lifeguards as required.
There will also be a bathroom service available for people with reduced mobility at the beaches of Los Locos and Los Náufragos by calling 647 599 624.
