Where do we start with the superlatives for a truly memorable day? We celebrated our captains’ day “Terry Fitzgerald” with a fantastic day of golf at La Serena last Saturday. The weather was ideal ideal for golf with 25 degrees with a gentle breeze keeping us cool. The golf course again is in excellent condition and we must thank Wayne and his team for their efforts, the greens the fairways and the general presentation of the course makes playing golf at La Serena a pleasure. To the staff in the pro-shop thank you, Jean and Paul for preparing the cards, collating the results and also for erecting our banner on the 10th tee.
Our competition committee are doing sterling work with a special thank you to Camillus and Philip who organised the 92 players. It was a fantastic team effort (all two of you), well done. Can I again remind players to please return your cards as soon as possible to the shop on the open days so that they can generate the results on the computer and return the scores to Madrid. If you fail to return your card you cannot have your handicap adjusted and it also impacts on the days handicap, or CSS.
We had our presentation dinner in Meson El Prado in San Miguel. What can we say it worked like clockwork, to perfection with everybody enjoying a sumptuous dinner in their outdoor patio. We were entertained by the dulcet tones of Steve Clarke, with our very own Jackie Whyte performing some of her favourite songs. We had 92 appreciative members and guests who attended the dinner and I would like to thank them one and all for showing their support to Terry. It truly was a one of the most enjoyable social evenings we have hosted.
