The 11th May saw Montgo playing a stableford competition sponsored by Anne Kitson and Peter Gardiner.  The prizes varied this week from the usual bottles of booze as winners were presented with tokens for the practice range which as a non drinker I thought made a nice change.  Sadly I didn´t win anything!  Also veering away from the norm prizes were awarded separately to the first 3 ladies and gentlemen.

The top three spots for the gents was decided on countback as all three had 35 points.  So the gent with the best back nine was Geoff Wilcox in first place, Michel Grin took second and Russ Peters came in third.  Maintaining her excellent quality of golf Sally Cottrell ld the field with 37 points.  In second place Susie Snelling, also on fine form, had 36 points and Gerian Van Ooijen took third with 34 points.

Gerian also took both of the ladies NTPs with 3.28m on the third and 2.22m on the 16th.  Her story doesn´t end there as she sunk both putts to take home 2 coveted Montgo balls as well.

All of our gentleman failed to hit the green on the 3rd so this was awarded on card draw.  Simon Fox declaring, “Oh this´ll go to a girl!”…it did…Simon Fox.  Well done Simon.  NTP for the gents on the 16th went to Brian Redfearn with 3.57m.  An additional two coveted balls went to Ross Fletcher and Susie Snelling.  See gentlemen…you only need to be accurate to get results, it´s not all about length.

And finally a reminder to all our players that dignity on a golf course should be maintained at all times.  Particularly when leaving a bunker.  Please try not to resort to crawling out on all fours as one of our lady players (mentioning no names Julia Hall!) had to this week. Sadly there was no photographic evidence as this may well have won our photo comp.
