A 10 hour programme comprising 2 number 5 hour sessions, that was designed to spread the basic knowledge of First Aid, took place during the period of 3rd/4th May and was held in the Centro Civico Ramon de Campoamor, Calle Cipres, Lomas de Cabo Roig, which is owned by the Orihuela Costa town hall.
The purpose was to train a group of 16 people on how to deal with a vast variety of medical conditions.
Of the 16 attendees, 14 were from the Torrevieja branch of the U3A. This is a part of the U3As aims to improve its services to its members. The course was run by Barry Robinson, a fully qualified First Aider, with over 30 years experience, the last 4 years of whichhave been in Spain. He was ably assisted by Little Anne (3rd from left in photo) in the section relating to CPR.
The course was well presented and was enthusiastically received by all concerned. This was the first course to be run by the Red Cross in this location, and it is generally hoped that it will to be their permanent home in Orihuela Costa and that they will be able to offer their services to many other organisations to improve the safety facilities on the coast.
